Easy Spring Tray Vignette For the Home with Buying Guide

May 9, 2018 by Stacy Craft Leave a Comment

Easy Spring Tray Vignette with Online Buying Guide

Decorating is not necessarily my thing. I like doing it but I feel like an amateur at best. But when it comes to decorating for holidays or seasons, I am a pro. Well, a pro in the sense of adding lots of gaudy, bright colored trinkets and holiday signs around the house that my daughter absolutely loves.

I love celebrating with her so I don’t mind too much that we might not make the cover of Southern Living magazine. Lately I have been trying to create one pretty thing for each holiday and season that can bring me joy like the bright orange plastic pumpkins that delight my daughter at Halloween. This month I created an easy spring tray vignette that I have on a counter in my kitchen.

Simple Spring Tray Vignette Assembly

For this spring tray vignette, I wanted to bring in a fresh green color as my focal point. I did that for two reasons. 1. It reminds me of fresh cut grass and new leaves on the trees that come with springtime. 2. I created a St. Patrick’s Day Vignette a few weeks back and I wanted to reuse some of the items – and you guessed it, there was a lot of green. I like being able to create a fresh decorative area while saving money by re-purposing some on hand items.

Free Buying Guide

Pinterest is awesome until you see something you want to recreated and can’t figure out where to buy the stuff at. I bought everything shown on this spring tray vignette at Hobby Lobby or Amazon. The only exception is the fresh flowers. I got those at our local grocery store, just the cheap $5 bouquet.

Tray – I bought mine at Hobby Lobby and used it in this spring tray vignette and in my St. Patrick’s Day Vignette. However, since they can’t seem to find a cart that will hold a car seat carrier, I totally understand if you  prefer Amazon! Here is a tray that is similar in size to mine on Amazon Prime.

Green Vase – Reused this item from the St. Pat’s Vignette. Here is the bottle.

Green Moss Ball – I bought this ball on Amazon & it is was only $5! Prices are always subject to change on Amazon

White Cake Stand with Cloche – what I used to hold the little bird.

Bird – I found one at Hobby Lobby, it fits in the palm of your hand.

Moss in Bird Cloche – I put this moss in the white cake stand so that the bird was sitting on a little nest of moss. You will have a good bit left over since the stand isn’t very big.

Farmhouse Pitcher – I couldn’t find the exact pitcher that I bought but this is an Amazon option – Farmhouse distressed metal pitcher

Flowers – I bought at a grocery store for $5

Books – These were all reused from the St. Patrick’s day Vignette.  Sheet Music Book, Antique Book, Small Fancy Green Book.

Total Money Spent

By reusing some things that I saved from the St. Patrick’s Day Vignette and by purchasing the other items on sale, I spent just under $40 to create this spring tray vignette. I am sure I will reuse some of these pieces again for my summer tray that I am planning.

One of the reasons that I like saving money is so that I can afford to play a little more. I love the satisfaction of creating something that I like and finding happiness in looking at it. With delicate fresh daisies in a farmhouse white pitcher – what’s not to like? It just screams happy spring to me.

I even tried it with a Fresh pineapple just for fun but we ended up eating the pineapple so the tall green bottle made its way back on the tray.

Everything Pumpkin Spice on Amazon

The first pumpkin of the season made it to my table this week. Every year I think that I can “will” fall to arrive by decorating my house with pretty fall colors, lighting a fall inspired candle with a yummy scent and of course adding some pumpkin spice to my coffee (oh yeah, that is all in August)!

You can literally find almost anything with pumpkin spice flavor or scent if you look hard enough. Easy St. Patrick’s Day Vignette

February 24, 2018 by Stacy Craft Leave a Comment

I have been wanting a tray vignette area in my kitchen that I could change up with every holiday or season. So I strapped the baby on to me, put the 4 year old in the cart and started walking the aisles of Hobby Lobby. (Why can’t they make their baskets big enough to hold an infant car seat?! Ahh) I wanted to find some items to go on a St. Patrick’s Day Vignette that I could use seasonally and also some staple items that I could use in a variety of vignettes through the year.

Pinning decorative things on Pinterest is a love of mine but it never fails I can’t find the same things at the store.  The list below should save you from having to circle the store 300 times like I did with two kids in tow! Hopefully this will take the guesswork out of it for you and save you from a toddler meltdown.

Money Spent

My total cost for everything pictured was $61.38. While this is not the most frugal decoration I have ever put together, I do plan to reuse several items throughout the year. The most expensive items were the tray and the books. I plan to use those in most of not all styled vignettes in this area. When you subtract those two items, the seasonal portion was just over $20. I also typically reuse my seasonal decorations (even if it is in a different place) for several years so this gets to be really reasonable when you consider that.

Finding the Decorations

Everything for this St. Patrick’s Day Vignette came from Hobby Lobby except for the gold coins.

St. Patrick's Day Leprechaun

St. Patrick’s Day Seasonal Items

The shelf sitter Leprechaun and the Wood block were located in the St. Patrick’s Day seasonal area of the store.

Leprechaun Shelf Sitter

Not Lucky Just Blessed Wood Block

The bottles were in the glass area. In my store it is in the middle of several aisles that have candles, mirrors etc. There is one full aisle of glass and colored glass vases and jars.

Green Tall Bottle

Carved Green Bottle

Green Preserves Jar

The decorative books were in the center of the store among the decor that is displayed in the middle.

Sheet Music Book Box

Fancy Green Lined Book Box

Yellow/Black Book Box

The Floral stems were just located among the white flowers in the floral Department.

3 White Flower Stems

Wood Box – I couldn’t find the wood box/tray online. I found it on the Farmhouse aisle on the bottom shelf. They have tons of fun trays that I found all over the store.

Everything but the Flower Stems were 50% off when I went shopping.

Gold Plastic Coins – The coins came from the Dollar Tree & were with the Seasonal St. Patrick’s Day decor.

Setting up the St. Patrick’s Day Vignette

Easy Vignette for St. Patrick's Day

Stack your books on the left of your tray, then stack the St. Pat’s Lucky Box Sign and the Shelf Sitter Leprechaun to the right of the box. Set up the 3 Glass jars as shown in the picture. Then trim about 1/2 of the stem from each of the flowers and place in the shortest jar. Sprinkle a few gold coins around and you have a cute, seasonal St. Pat’s set up that you can easily switch out for multiple seasons and holidays.

Do you decorate for St. Patrick’s Day?
