2 Free Summer Fun Ideas That You Must Sign Up For Now

May 22, 2018 by Stacy Craft 1 Comment

2 Free Summer Fun Ideas That You Will Want to Sign Your Kids Up For Now!

Kids Skate and Bowl Free All Summer

My 4 year old just learned the word “bored.” She loves her new vocabulary word and shows it off often. Since I don’t want her to be bored all summer, I was thrilled to find 2 free summer fun ideas.

Ok, so in all fairness, I actually do not mind if my daughter is bored. I think it is good for kiddos to be occasionally bored.

It is amazing the creativity that can come out of not having every minute of every day planned by an adult. But, I’m also a realist. I need things to keep her entertained over the summer and it is a bonus if those activities are cheap or free.

2 Free Summer Fun Ideas to Sign up For Now

When it heats up in those early summer months, I usually let my mind drift to the pool. I blow up our inflatable toddler splash pad and set up our awesome Slip N Slide hack.

Even though water is a great way to cool down, sometimes we need a little change of pace. Here are 2 Free summer fun ideas to sign up for so that you will have built in fun all summer long.

Kids Skate Free

Kids Skate Free All Summer

For this freebie, go to the Kids Skate Free site and sign up. You can look by State and city to find the closest location to you. This is all facilitated by each individually owned skating center so I am sure the rules change for each one.

For example, the location that we will go has 2 weekday afternoons (2 until 8 pm) and one weekend afternoon that you can attend for free.

Even my 4 year old loves to “skate” now (holding on to the rail and walking on the rink). While she works on mastering the skill, she is building up her gross motor skills, exercising and most importantly at this point getting her wiggles out!

To use this freebie, you need to go back to the site and print off a weekly pass to take to the facility for use. Not a large price to pay for this awesome freebie.
*Update 2021: they now have an app that makes it super simple to show your passes at the door.

It does cost $4 per child processing when you sign up. I am not sure exactly what this goes for, I am assuming that it may be to maintenance the site.
*Update 2021: this year there was no fee! They didn’t even take a credit card at all. YAY!

There is also a rental fee ($2 at my location) if you need to rent skates for your kids. We got skates for my kids at Christmas this year so we will use those. By the way, if you need skates – these have been so cool for my 3 year old. He is a pro on them. Who knew there was such a thing as “beginner” skates.

If you take one child 5 times over the summer, you would save about $36 once you subtract the $4 processing. If you have 3 kids, that is $108! Wow.

Kids Bowl Free

Kids Bowl Free All Summer Long

Sign your kids up for 2 free games of bowling all summer long. Complete the form at the Kids Bowl Free site, where you can sign up all your kids that are 17 or under.

There is no processing fee for this, just simply pick your location, register your kids & print your coupons as needed for their two free games. You can do this all summer long! If it is free and an air conditioned location, I consider that a success.

The Kids bowl free site does give you one paid option when you process the free kid memberships. For less than $30 (this was my location and may change by site), I could sign up 4 adults to play 2 games all summer long as well.
*Update: now it is 2 adults for $30.

I decided to do this because my husband and I will probably at least go together once or twice plus all the times I will take the kids solo just to get out of the house. For this one, I could sign up our two older girls, the 4 year old and both of us.

On a Sunday, the cost of a game is right at $30 so if we play two games on one Sunday we make up the cost.

If we go three Sundays over the course of the summer and play 2 games each time, we save $150! I also signed my mom and sister up two because I could sign up 4 adults for that one time fee of $30.

It is unbelievable! Adults can only bowl during Kid Free times but at my location they have WAY more times available than I will ever actually go so it is not limiting to me.

Bowling shoes are required at most facilities. If you don’t have shoes, the rental fee is usually around $3 a rental.

Summer Savings – How Much will I Save?

It depends on how many times you go to these 2 free summer fun ideas.

If you go just a couple of times to each, you can easily save $50 to $100. If you go a lot or have a bunch of kids, you will save even more!

Since we have a big family when my step daughters are with us, I love frugal ideas where we can go and have fun but not spend an arm and a leg.

Filling an Easter basket for an infant can be challenging. They don’t need or want anything but you want them to have something.

This time around our baby will be right around 5 months but his big sister will be expecting the Bunny to leave her brother a basket filled just like hers.

For baby baskets I try to focus on practicality and things that the baby might need in a few months.

The list here shares lots of ideas for items that baby needs for less than $5 and the best thing is that they can all be purchased on your Amazon Prime account!

We all know that it can be impossible to get out of the house with a baby and no sleep so the Easter Bunny can deliver it straight to your door!

If you don’t have a Prime account yet, you can try it free for 30 days here! Prime was a lifesaver for me less than 5 years ago when I was pregnant with my first baby.

It was getting harder and harder to lug paper towels, groceries and my BIG belly around. I still have Prime deliver lots of our essentials and it really helps with another new baby in the house to not have to drag everyone out to the store! You can read the top 5 reasons that I subscribe to Amazon Prime here.

What Was In My 5 Month Old’s Easter Basket?

If you read all those $5 or under infant Easter basket fillers and still don’t know what to do, maybe this will help! Sometimes I like to just have an exact guide to follow so that I don’t have to really think about it.

If that sounds like your mama brain right now, here is exactly what was in my 5 month old’s basket.

Baby Mum-Mums – Both of my kids loved these! I always keep them in my purse for restaurant outings. Baby can hold these and self feed.

Tommee Tippee Roll UP Bibs – These are the best for babies that are starting solid foods because they wipe off so easily. If your baby is bottle feeding, these Tommee Tippee Padded collar bibs are a must. They prevent the drips of milk going down their neck and getting super gross.

Carter’s Dinosaur Onesie

A couple of Baby Food Pouches – Because he was about to start trying new foods.

For right around $20, the baby’s Easter basket was filled with age appropriate treats and essentials.

Low Carb Bacon Cheeseburger Soup

July 1, 2018 by Stacy Craft 12 Comments

A creamy and rich low carb soup that comes together in just a few minutes using leftover grilled cheeseburgers.

The Best Bacon Cheeseburger Keto Soup

Leftover Low Carb Keto Cheeseburger Soup - THM S Meal for a Healthy Lunch or Dinner

Burgers are a staple of summertime. Soup usually makes me think Fall and Winter. But when I am eating low carb, soups are such an easy way to get a satisfying and simple meal.

So I broke the rules and ate soup in the 90 degree heat. I have air conditioning and I lived through it (and loved it)!

This low carb bacon cheeseburger soup was made even easier and more flavorful by using leftover cheeseburgers from the night before.

My husband grilled cheeseburgers the night before and we had one of our staple dinners, Cheeseburger Salad. The next day at lunch I was trying to find something quick and tasty. I saw the leftover burgers and it hit me. I could make a low carb bacon cheeseburger soup, use my leftovers, and have a yummy meal. Win.

Low Carb Bacon Cheeseburger Soup

We follow the Trim Healthy Mama plan at our house so this is a THM S Meal because of the cheese, cream and red meat. If you follow another low carb plan, this will fit within that or your Keto lifestyle. (See how I lost 22 lbs postpartum in 3 months with THM)

While looking at recipes, I first saw a cheeseburger soup on i Save A 2 Z. I made some small modifications and added in leftovers to make this soup delicious and budget friendly by using leftovers.

Start by prepping your bacon. Make this even easier by using bacon bits that you already have or cook your bacon in your soup stock pot to make it a one pot meal like I did.

Uncooked Bacon

The Leftovers

Chop your leftover cheeseburgers up into bite size pieces.

You can use cooked ground beef in the soup but the leftover burgers really amp up the flavor of the soup. Plus you get to use up leftovers from your bbq! Don’t let your money get tossed out by not eating your leftovers.

Chopped Leftover Grilled Cheeseburger

Add your butter, seasonings, bone broth, marinara and shredded cheese. I use the Bone beef broth from Walmart as an easy way to increase the nutritional value. Add your cream cheese.

Low carb bacon cheeseburger soup simmering

My cheese grater broke recently so I had to get creative with my pot strainer to get my cheese shredded! It wasn’t easy but it worked. There is a hack for you if yours breaks too! Do what you have to do to get dinner on the table! #momlife

Low Carb Cheeseburger soup with Grated Cheese

Add your chopped burgers and bacon bits. Next, add in your heavy cream and simmer it all together. (Don’t mind my amazing clip on spoon that is taking up 1/2 the picture!)

Cream added to Cheeseburger Soup

Cheeseburger Soup Toppings

Top the soup with your choice of dill pickle slices (sounds weird but so good), more shredded cheese and sliced jalapenos.

Low Carb Cheeseburger Soup - Keto - THM S Meal Using Leftover Burgers

Your leftover low carb bacon cheeseburger soup is rich and decadent. The leftover burgers really give this soup a burger in a bowl taste. I hope you try it to use your leftovers and have a yummy lunch or dinner for the family. Don’t forget to see the can’t miss cheesy salsa chicken recipe that also fits with Keto/low carb/ THM S. And if you are looking for more ways to use your leftovers,  here are 5 ways to use your chicken.

Stocking Stuffers for 1 Year Old

November 25, 2018 by Stacy Craft 7 Comments

12 stocking stuffers for 1 year old to include this Christmas season. All items are under $5 and fun for babies age 12 months to 24 months.

12 Stocking Stuffers for Your 1 year Old Under $5. Inexpensive items without being cheap and junk. Toys, snacks and more to fill the stocking on Christmas Eve night.

Finding stocking stuffers for 1 year old babies should be easy. They can only say a few words. He/she doesn’t care about the hot new toy this year. They are mostly interested in boxes and tearing up wrapping paper. Yet it seems easy and hard all at the same time.

This list gives 12 stocking stuffers for 1 year old toddlers that will be useful, entertaining and budget friendly. All of these toys and baby items are less than $5 and can be purchased online. So now you have your toddler stocking filled easily and without any junk.

12 Stocking Stuffers for 1 year old Toddlers Under $5

Here is the list of stocking stuffers for 1 year old babies this Christmas season.

Munchkin Baby Bath Ball Toy for Toddler Stocking

Munchkin Baby Bath Ball – Bath toys are a favorite of mine to buy as gifts because bath toys seem to have a shorter life span in our house (if you are not diligent about cleaning, which I am not). This is a great price point and my little boy would love this!

Winter Touch & Feel Book Stocking Stuffer for Baby

Winter Baby Touch & Feel Book – Touch and feel are our favorite books for little ones (& my 5 year old still touches too. If we are being honest, I do too!).

Goldfish Crackers

Goldfish Crackers – My one year old’s stomach is probably 50% full of Goldfish crackers at all times. He would be delighted to see “fish” in his stocking! You can find these at the grocery store for a couple of dollars or buy in bulk on Amazon.

Munchkin 360 Cups for Toddler Stocking Stuffers

Munchkin 360 Cup – this is the best sippy cup ever. I switched my daughter to this when she was a little older but my 13 month old is already using these. I like them because they can’t bite through the spout like other sippy cups & these are better for their developing teeth. This is a 2 pack that makes each one just over $5 each. I love practical stocking stuffers.

Kids Divided Plate

Kids Divided Plates – Ok, so maybe your 1 year old may not be thrilled over a plate, sometime soon they will like it. I like buying things that will be useful in the coming year, especially since they don’t care about this year’s hot toy.

Toddler Forks

Kiddy Forks – We have a ton of tiny baby spoons but pretty soon our baby will be looking to use a fork like his big sis! Stock up now for the coming year.

Red Ribbon Bow

Hair Bows – Bows are stocking stuffers for 1 year old or 5 year old! Bows have been in her  stocking every year for 5 years! They are inexpensive and cute!

Toddler Snack Granola Bar

Toddler Snack Bars – a fun snack is a great treat to add to a stocking for a 1 year old without having to add candy. Although I will likely put in a pack of M&M’s because my little one loves them!

Duplo School Bus Kit

Duplo My First Bus – How cute is this first Lego set? Perfect for little hands.

ABC 123 Foam Bath Tub Letters for a Stocking Stuffer for Toddler

Munchkin Bath Letters – These are a great way to discuss letters, numbers and even colors with your child.

Mega Blok Toddler Toy

Cookie Jar Mega Bloks – This is the cutest thing ever! It is on sale right now for just over $5.

Ball

Character 10″ Ball – Toddlers love chasing balls around! This one would fit perfectly at the top of the stocking.

Hopefully this list of stocking stuffers for 1 year old toddler helps you get your shopping done. If you have a 3-5 year old little girl, be sure to check out this list of stocking stuffers for her under $5.

What do you plan to use for stocking stuffers for 1 year old toddler?

Delivery Driver Christmas Gift

November 24, 2018 by Stacy Craft 5 Comments

An easy delivery driver Christmas gift for the hard working UPS, USPS & FedEx employees that bring your presents to the door. Be sure to download the free printable!

Delivery Driver Christmas Gift for UPS FedEX and USPS Postal Workers. Spread Christmas cheer inexpensively with a Free gift card holder printable.

Santa Claus is Coming to Town, He wouldn't have to if he had Ground! UPS FedEx & USPS Postal Worker $5 Giftcard holder for a thoughtful and Frugal Christmas Gift

A lot of packages come to my door all through out the year. It seems like I buy everything online these days! Even our toilet paper is dropped off by one of the delivery services. But at Christmas, the amount of packages arriving at my door increase a ton. With two young kids, shopping online just makes my life so much easier. So I wanted to find a way to give a fun delivery driver Christmas gift to those that help me during the season.

(Affiliate Links are used in this post. A small commission may be paid to me at no extra cost to you and that helps to support this page. Please see my disclosures page for additional information.)

Delivery Driver Christmas Gift for UPS, FedEx & USPS

These delivery drivers work so hard all year but in particular at Christmas time. We get everything from stocking stuffers to the Hot LOL Surprise Doll toys delivered to our house.

In the summer they are in the sweltering heat without air hauling packages to your door. And in November and December, they are often braving cold temperatures and bad weather to get your gifts to you on time.

These drivers work long hours and often have to skip meals to make sure they get everything done. And even though I think lots of us are thankful for their service, it is often a thankless job. They drop the packages at the door, most of the time never even interacting with the recipient in a rush to get to their next delivery.

Yes, it is their job and they get paid for this service. However, I wanted a fun way to give a delivery driver Christmas gift this year to show our appreciation. Since I planned to do 3 of these (one for UPS, FedEx & USPS), I wanted it to be inexpensive yet cute and meaningful.

Free Delivery Driver Christmas Gift Printable

If you would like to give a delivery driver Christmas gift this year, be sure to download the free PDF file Here!

UPS USPS FedEx Delivery Driver Christmas Gift - Add $5 Gift Card Here - Free Printable Card with Gift Card Holder

Then head over to Amazon and grab a $5 printable gift card. Some other fun ideas would be a $5 gift card to Starbucks for a cup of coffee to warm them up or a gift card to a fast food lunch spot.

You can make this a free way to give by redeeming your Swagbucks points for a gift card! If you are not using Swagbucks, you should be! You earn points by doing small tasks or just by searching the internet. I have personally redeemed points several times for gift cards valued between $5 and $25. Follow this link to sign up!

Creating the Gift

UPS - FedEx - USPS Delivery Driver Employee Frugal Christmas Gift to give this holiday season

The gift is super simple to put together. Simply print the printable file. It is going to print just slightly smaller than a standard size of printer paper.

Trim the edges if you wish and then affix your gift card. I used an Amazon printable and just trimmed it up to fit. It will also fit a standard plastic gift card that you might purchase from a retail store. Use double sided tape to affix the card.

Sign the bottom & remember to add a “To” section, so that the driver knows to take the gift. I just taped the card to my window. You could also use some cute ribbon to tie it to the door knob.

Do you love to reward the service workers in your life?
